Humpback Whales of the Silver BankEvery winter the protected shoals of the Silver Bank in the Dominican Republic are home to the magnificent Humpback Whales. Newborn calves are nurtured by their mothers in these warm, shallow waters. For those fortunate enough to encounter these creatures in their element, it is an unforgettable experience!

Breaching Humpback Whale.Often times when least expected, a Humpback Whale will breach, launching its massive body from the water in a display of power and grace.No one knows why a whale chooses to breach - to communicate it's position to other whales? to rid itself of dead skin and parasites? to express excitement? Some suggest a whale breaches because it can!
