Wissahickon Creek in Philadelphia comes alive with waterfowl in the springtime. Among those seen are Wood Ducks, Mallards, and Canada Geese. Wood Ducks are perhaps the most colorful North American waterfowl. Their breeding habitat includes wooded swamps, lakes, marshes, ponds, and creeks along both coasts of the United States. Wood ducks have sharp claws for perching in trees, and in southern regions produce two broods in a single season.
